Admission to GCET operates through UPTAC (Uttar Pradesh Technical Admission Counselling) - the centralised counselling body for all AKTU-affiliated institutions - for both B.Tech and postgraduate programmes. GCET is among the most sought-after AKTU institutions in the UPTAC counselling preference lists, consistently drawing students in the top UPTAC rank brackets for CSE and IT. The admission process is structured, transparent, and state-administered, which means GCET has no backdoor management quota manipulation beyond the standard 15% management seats that all UP private colleges are entitled to fill outside UPTAC.

Admissions at GCET Greater Noida 2026: Entrance Exams, Eligibility, and Process
GCET also runs the Galgotias Engineering Entrance Examination (GEEE) as a parallel admission channel for seats not filled through UPTAC, particularly relevant for students who appear for JEE Main but want a parallel application option. Direct admission is also available based on 12th PCM percentage for students with very high academic scores - the threshold for CSE via direct admission is typically 95% in 12th PCM.

UPTAC Counselling: How It Works for GCET Applicants
UPTAC is the single gateway for most GCET admissions. After JEE Main results are declared, UPTAC releases its counselling schedule - typically in June–July. Students register on the UPTAC portal, fill in college and branch preferences in order, and participate in multiple allotment rounds. GCET typically allots its CSE and IT seats in the first or second round due to high demand; less popular branches like Civil Engineering and Electrical Engineering may allot seats in later rounds. Students who receive a GCET allotment must pay the counselling fee to confirm their seat and then complete document verification at the college. It is advisable to lock preferred branches early in the preference form, as GCET's popular branches close well before the final round.
Direct Admission and Management Quota
Up to 15% of B.Tech seats at GCET are fillable through management quota, outside UPTAC counselling. Students interested in direct admission can apply via the GCET official website or by contacting the admissions helpline. Direct admission through the GEEE test involves an institutional-level test, a group discussion, and an interview. For high-scoring 12th students (95%+ PCM), direct admission without UPTAC participation is available for CSE. GATE score holders are considered for scholarship support and admission preference in M.Tech-adjacent postgraduate pathways.
