About GCS Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre, Ahmedabad
GCS Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre (GCSMC), Ahmedabad, is one of the premier private medical institutions in Gujarat, established in 2009 under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. Managed by the Gujarat Cancer Society (GCS) — a charitable organization founded in 1961 with over six decades of cancer care legacy — GCSMC was formally dedicated to the people of Gujarat by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2011. The Government of Gujarat allotted 25 acres of land at New Swadeshi Mill Compound, Naroda Road, Asarwa, Ahmedabad in recognition of GCS's contributions. Affiliated to Gujarat University and approved by the NMC, GCSMC offers 150 MBBS seats and 64 PG (MD/MS) seats across 21 disciplines. The college campus spans 37,250 sq.m (college) + 39,500 sq.m (hospital) + 25,800 sq.m (hostel complex) and is NAAC A++ accredited and NABH accredited. GCSMC is also home to GCS School/College of Nursing, GCS Physiotherapy College, and GCS Healthcare Academy. With over 7 lakh patients served annually and ~1,450 OPD patients daily, the 1,000-bed NABH-accredited teaching hospital provides unmatched clinical exposure. GCSMC is empanelled with Ayushman Bharat (PM-JAY), MA Yojana, Chiranjeevi Yojana, and Bal Sakha Yojana, extending its services to the underprivileged. The college was ranked #18 by NIRF 2024 among medical colleges in India — a remarkable achievement for a private college established only in 2009.
