About GMERS Medical College and Hospital, Dharpur-Patan
GMERS Medical College and Hospital, Dharpur-Patan is a prominent government self-financed medical institution situated in the Patan district of North Gujarat. Established in 2012 under the Gujarat Medical Education and Research Society (GMERS) — an autonomous body constituted by the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Gujarat — the college was formally inaugurated on 23rd September 2012 by the then Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Narendra Modi. The Letter of Permission (LOP) from the Medical Council of India (MCI) was granted on 28th June 2012 with an initial intake of 150 MBBS students. With the introduction of the 103rd Constitutional Amendment (EWS quota), the intake was expanded to 200 seats from AY 2019-20, making it one of the largest MBBS-intake medical colleges under the GMERS network in North Gujarat. The college is academically affiliated with Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University (HNGU), Patan, and is recognized and approved by the National Medical Commission (NMC), formerly the Medical Council of India (MCI). Annual renewal permission for 200 MBBS seats has been granted for AY 2024-25. Operating as a co-educational, semi-government institution, GMERS Dharpur-Patan ensures quality and affordable medical education to students from all sections of society. Admissions are strictly merit-based through the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG), with 85% seats under the Gujarat State Quota administered by ACPUGMEC and 15% under the All India Quota managed by MCC.
