Yes. It is a fully government-owned and operated institution under the Department of AYUSH, Government of Karnataka, recognised by the Ministry of AYUSH and NCISM (successor to CCIM), and affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Bangalore.
The attached Ayurvedic hospital has roots going back to 1977 within the Government District Hospital, Shivamogga. A dedicated hospital building came up on a 3.01-acre campus in 2011-2012, and the college received permission to start BAMS admissions in the 2018-19 academic year.
The college offers the undergraduate BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) programme, a 5.5-year course (4.5 years academic plus 1 year compulsory internship), with an annual intake of 60 seats.
Admission is based purely on a valid NEET (UG) score through two government counselling channels: the AYUSH Admissions Central Counselling Committee (AACCC) for All India Quota seats, and Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) AYUSH NEET Counselling for State Quota seats. There is no Management Quota at this government college.
