Government Medical College, Bhavnagar is one of the most prestigious and historically significant government medical colleges in Gujarat, established in 1995. It is administered directly by the Government of Gujarat under the Department of Health and Family Welfare, making it a pure government institution — the only government medical college in Bhavnagar district. The college is affiliated with Maharaja Krishnakumarsinhji Bhavnagar University (MK Bhavnagar University), Bhavnagar — recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) — and is recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC) of India. Hospital has a total bed capacity exceeding 720 beds — being one of the most comprehensive government teaching hospitals in Saurashtra.
