Government Medical College, Bhilwara — formally designated as Rajmata Vijaya Raje Scindia Medical College (RVRS Medical College), Bhilwara — is a well-established government medical institution situated at Sindri ke Balaji Road, Sanganer, Bhilwara, Rajasthan. Established in 2018 by the Government of Rajasthan, the college is affiliated with RUHS, Jaipur, and recognised by the NMC. Named after Rajmata Vijaya Raje Scindia, the much-admired Queen Mother of the Gwalior royal family and a prominent political leader, the college is one of the flagship government medical colleges in the Mewar-Marwar belt. Bhilwara is the textile capital of Rajasthan — India's largest producer of synthetic textiles — and the third most populous city in Rajasthan. Located approximately 250 km southwest of Jaipur and 9 km from Bhilwara Railway Station, the college is at Sindri ke Balaji Road, Sanganer. The nearest airport is Kota Domestic Airport, approximately 152 km away (~2.5 hours drive). Campus & Infrastructure: The campus spreads over 62.87 acres (also cited as 62.67 acres) of lush green land — one of the larger campuses among 2018-batch Rajasthan GMCs. Infrastructure includes technology-infused gallery-type lecture halls, demonstration halls, common rooms for boys and girls, examination halls, latest Medical Skills Lab, departmental museums, well-equipped modern laboratories, cafeteria, and recreation halls. The central library covers 686 square metres and houses approximately 1,500 books and 1,727 journals (14 Indian, 6 foreign). A digital library section supplements print resources. Boys' Hostel: 133 rooms; Girls' Hostel: 70 rooms. Two health training centres: Urban Health Training Centre (UHTC) at Sanganer (2 km from college) and Rural Health Training Centre (RHTC) at Ama village (30 km from college) for community medicine training. Teaching Hospitals: The primary teaching hospital is Mahatma Gandhi Hospital, Bhilwara — a major multi-specialty government hospital previously under the Director of Medical and Health Services, Rajasthan, now upgraded and attached to the medical college. Capacity: approximately 433 beds. The hospital records approximately 1,500+ outpatients daily on average. A Mother and Child Hospital (MCH) is additionally located on the MG Hospital campus for OBG and Paediatrics training. Advanced facilities include: Central laboratory, Blood Bank, CT Scan, Mechanical Laundry, Incinerator, Mortuary, and round-the-clock casualty and emergency services. Specialist OPDs and dedicated Gynaecologic Casualty adjacent to labour rooms (septic and clean labour rooms) are functional. Emergency Operation Theatre and Emergency Laboratory for urgent investigations are available. PG Courses: GMC Bhilwara offers PG MD/MS in selected specialties with 8 PG seats (SchoolMyKids 2024).
