About Government Medical College, Bundi
Government Medical College (GMC), Bundi is a newly established government medical institution located at Talab Gaon, Bundi, Rajasthan. The college was established in 2023 and admitted its first batch of 100 MBBS students in the Academic Year 2023-24. It is affiliated with RUHS, Jaipur, and recognised by NMC. Bundi is a historically and architecturally celebrated city — described by Rudyard Kipling as 'the one place in India I would rather have been born in' — known for its spectacular step-wells (baolis), the magnificent Bundi Palace frescoes, and the Taragarh Fort, all dating to the Rajput era. Bundi is part of the Hadoti region of Rajasthan (Kota division), situated approximately 210 km from Jaipur, 40 km from Kota (nearest major city), and 230 km from Indore (MP). Kota Airport is the nearest, approximately 40 km away. The college's establishment addresses the long-pending demand for a government medical college in Bundi district, which previously had no local medical institution. Campus & Infrastructure: The GMC Bundi campus at Talab Gaon comprises the college building with an administrative block, e-classrooms (smart classrooms), boys' and girls' hostels, and supporting infrastructure. The college building has been constructed and is operational. Departmental labs for Anatomy, Biochemistry, Physiology, Pathology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, and Forensic Medicine are set up. A library with thousands of medical books, journals, and digital e-resources is available. A Skill Lab supports CBME-based clinical skills training. Teaching Hospital: The Government District Hospital, Bundi — a 500-bed government facility located near the main bus stand in Bundi — functions as the primary teaching hospital. It provides healthcare services covering Medicine, Surgery, Paediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Orthopaedics, Emergency, and supporting services. The hospital supports patients from Bundi and surrounding villages, making diverse patient exposure possible for MBBS students. Courses: MBBS (100 seats per year). PG courses are expected to be introduced in future years as the institution and hospital facilities expand. The first MBBS batch (AY 2023-24) admitted 100 students via NEET UG counselling. Fees & Bond: Annual MBBS tuition: ₹66,990/year (CareerMarg 2025). Total for 5 years: ~₹3,34,950. No management or NRI quota. Compulsory rural service bond post-internship as per Rajasthan government norms.
