About Government Medical College, Chhindwara
Government Medical College, Chhindwara — also known as Chhindwara Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS) — is a newly established government medical college in Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh, set up in 2019 under the Central Government's scheme to establish new medical colleges attached to existing district hospitals. Affiliated with Madhya Pradesh Medical Science University (MPMSU), Jabalpur, and recognised by the National Medical Commission (NMC) with a Letter of Permission dated 30 May 2019, the college offers 100 MBBS seats annually. The 31-acre campus features modern state-of-the-art infrastructure including spacious digital lecture theatres (one with 350-seat capacity and four smaller halls seating 180 each), 16 demonstration rooms, eight research laboratories, six department museums, a three-storey air-conditioned central library, an examination hall for 250 students, and separate boy and girl hostels. The attached District Hospital Chhindwara — a 600-plus-bedded multi-specialty hospital — serves as the teaching hospital, averaging over 1,500 outpatients daily and providing students with rich clinical exposure from day one. The institution is designed with provision for future expansion of MBBS seats to 150 and a 750-bed campus hospital.

GMC Chhindwara was established in 2019 under the Central Government's scheme to set up new medical colleges attached to existing district hospitals. The Letter of Permission (LOP) from NMC (then MCI) was dated 30 May 2019. It is also known as Chhindwara Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS).
GMC Chhindwara currently has 100 NMC-approved MBBS seats. The college building has been designed with provision for future expansion to 150 seats. Of the current 100 seats, 15 are under All India Quota (AIQ) and 85 under MP State Quota.
The annual MBBS tuition fee at GMC Chhindwara is approximately ₹93,750 per year for government quota students. Tuition is charged for 4.5 years only (not the internship year), making the total course fee approximately ₹4.21 lakh. Hostel, mess, and other fees are additional. Being a government college, there are no management or NRI quota seats.
Yes. Madhya Pradesh is a 'closed state' for state quota admissions. To be eligible for MP state quota, a candidate must be a permanent resident of MP for 15+ years, OR born in MP with at least 3 years of continuous education in MP. Outside-state candidates can only apply through the AIQ (15% seats) at GMC Chhindwara.
