GMC Kodangal was established in 2024 by the Government of Telangana as the 35th government medical college, under Chief Minister Shri Revanth Reddy and Health Minister Shri Damodar Raja Narsimha. The first MBBS batch started in AY 2025-26 with 50 seats.
