Government Medical College, Konni, established in 2022, is the newest government medical college in Kerala, strategically situated on Nedumpara Hill near Vattamon in Konni Taluk, Pathanamthitta District. The institution was developed to address the critical healthcare deficit in the region, where residents previously had to travel over 100 km to GMC Kottayam or MCH Thiruvananthapuram for specialist care. Affiliated with Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS) and recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC), the college admits 100 MBBS students annually across its 50-acre forested campus. The attached 500-bedded multi-specialty teaching hospital, located at Anakuthy, Aruvapulam Panchayat, also serves as the base hospital for Sabarimala pilgrims, ensuring exceptional patient exposure for students. Key facilities include Modular Operation Theatres, CSSD, ICUs, and round-the-clock emergency services. Under the leadership of Principal Dr. Nisha R S, a community medicine specialist with over three decades of academic experience, GMC Konni is rapidly emerging as a regional hub for medical education and healthcare in Central Kerala.
