About Government Medical College (Institute of Integrated Medical Sciences), Yakkara, Palakkad
Government Medical College, Palakkad, officially known as the Institute of Integrated Medical Sciences (IIMS), is a government-run medical institution established in 2014 by the Government of Kerala, under the management of the Kerala State Scheduled Caste Development Department. Located in East Yakkara, Palakkad, the college was conceived to address the critical absence of any government medical college in Palakkad district — which has the highest Scheduled Communities population in Kerala. The college is affiliated with Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS) and recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC). The 50.42-acre campus offers 100 MBBS seats and 12 PG (MD/MS) seats. The Government Medical College Hospital, Palakkad serves as the teaching hospital, and the college is also attached to the District Hospital, Urban Health Training Centre (UHTC), and Rural Health Training Centre (RHTC) for comprehensive clinical training. The college's vision includes international exchange programmes and active R&D activities.
