Government Medical College, Parippally, Kollam (GMC Kollam) is the first government medical college in Kollam district, Kerala, established in 2017. Originally constructed by the Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) of India, it was the second ESIC medical college in the country and the first in Kerala. The campus is spread over more than 33 acres with 28 hospital buildings covering approximately 14,31,600 sq. ft of built-up area — making it one of the largest medical college campuses in Kerala in terms of buildings. The associated 500-bed multi-specialty teaching hospital provides 24x7 tertiary care services with 10 modular operation theatres, ICUs, CCU, Neonatal ICU, CSSD, and TSSU. The hospital sees over 1,300 outpatients daily and offers a full range of general and super-specialty services. The college admits 110 MBBS students annually and offers PG programs including MD in Community Medicine, Forensic Medicine, Pathology, and Microbiology. It is affiliated with Kerala University of Health Sciences and recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC).
