Government Medical College, Ramanathapuram is a newly established government medical institution founded in 2021 by the Government of Tamil Nadu to address the growing demand for medical education and improved healthcare access in the Ramanathapuram district. Affiliated with The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai, and recognised by the National Medical Commission (NMC), the college offers an MBBS program with an annual intake of 100 students. Located near the Collectorate at Pattinampakkam, Ramanathapuram, the college provides clinical training through the District Government Hospital, Ramanathapuram, which handles diverse cases across medicine, surgery, paediatrics, obstetrics & gynaecology, and emergency medicine. As an emerging institution under Tamil Nadu's healthcare expansion initiative, the campus is actively developing its academic infrastructure including lecture halls, laboratories, a library, and hostel facilities.
