Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram — popularly known as Trivandrum Medical College (TMC) — is Kerala's oldest and most prestigious public medical institution, founded in 1951 and dedicated by Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. Ranked 42nd in India by NIRF 2024, it is the top-ranked medical college in Kerala. Affiliated with the Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS) and approved by the NMC, the college is situated on a 139-acre seafront campus offering 250 MBBS seats, 249 PG seats across 22 specialties, and multiple super-specialty DM/MCh programmes. The expansive campus houses the 1,950-bedded Medical College Hospital — the largest multi-specialty hospital in South Kerala — along with the Sree Avittom Thirunal (SAT) Hospital, Regional Cancer Centre, Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences & Technology, Regional Institute of Ophthalmology, Dental College, Nursing and Pharmaceutical Sciences colleges, and the Priyadarshini Paramedical Institute. Hostels and Campus Accommodation
Separate hostels for male and female MBBS and PG students within the 139-acre campus. Two large lecture halls each accommodating 250 students. Recreational facilities including football and hockey grounds, cricket pitch, tennis, basketball, badminton, volleyball courts, and a 400-metre athletics track.

Central Library
The GMC Library is one of the best-equipped medical college libraries in Kerala, housing thousands of medical texts, national and international journals, and digital resources.
