Government Pharmacy College, BRD Medical College Campus, Gorakhpur (GPC Gorakhpur) is a government pharmacy institution established in 2019 by the Government of Uttar Pradesh. It is a constituent college located within the prestigious Baba Raghav Das (BRD) Medical College Campus in Gorakhpur, one of the most significant medical education centres in eastern Uttar Pradesh. The college is approved by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi, and is affiliated with Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Lucknow. The foundation stone of this pharmacy college was laid in November 2019 by the then Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, marking a significant milestone for pharmacy education in the Purvanchal region. The college began its first academic session in 2019-20 and was inaugurated to serve citizens of eastern Uttar Pradesh — the Purvanchal region — who previously had limited access to quality government pharmacy education near their homes. GPC Gorakhpur operates at the frontier of pharmacy education and practice, creating a progressive and sustainable impact in the field of healthcare. The institute aims at developing a centre of excellence in higher education in the field of pharmaceutical sciences, with the prospective of nurturing students as future leaders and healthcare professionals. Being situated within the BRD Medical College Campus provides students with unparalleled exposure to real-world clinical pharmacy practice, hospital pharmacy, and drug dispensing operations, which is a significant advantage over standalone pharmacy colleges. The college currently offers a single four-year undergraduate programme — Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharma) — with a sanctioned intake of 60 students per year. The B.Pharma curriculum covers pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmacology, pharmacognosy, pharmaceutics, clinical pharmacy, drug regulatory affairs, and pharmacy practice. Students benefit from close proximity to the 2,400+ bed BRD Hospital, one of the largest hospitals in UP, providing exposure to clinical environments. The campus occupies approximately 2.025 hectares and has dedicated pharmacy laboratories, a library, classrooms, and access to the broader BRD Medical College campus facilities. The library houses resources crucial for pharmaceutical coursework and research. The institution also has study facilities and a small but focused faculty strength. Admissions to the B.Pharma programme are through CUET UG based on performance in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Mathematics in the 10+2 examinations.
