About GSVM Medical College, Kanpur
Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Memorial Medical College (GSVM Medical College), Kanpur, is one of the oldest and most prestigious government medical colleges in India, established in 1955. Named after freedom fighter and journalist Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi, it holds the distinction of being the first medical college established in independent India in Uttar Pradesh and one of only five medical colleges established under the Second Five-Year Plan. Located at Swaroop Nagar, Kanpur – 208002, GSVM is affiliated with ABVMU Lucknow and recognised by NMC. It offers 250 MBBS seats, 108 PG seats (MD/MS in 22 disciplines), and 17 Super-Specialty seats (DM Cardiology, MCh Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery, MCh Urology).
