About Guru Nanak Dev Institute of Technology

Guru Nanak Dev Institute of Technology (GNDIT), now officially known as Guru Nanak Dev DSEU Rohini Campus, is one of Delhi's most distinguished government polytechnic institutions. It was established in 1995 under the Directorate of Training and Technical Education (DTTE), Government of NCT of Delhi, initially operating at the Pusa Polytechnic Campus before being relocated to its present premises at Sector 15, Rohini, in 1997. The inauguration of the Rohini campus was performed by the then Chief Minister of Delhi, Sh. Sahib Singh Verma, marking a historic milestone in technical education for North-West Delhi. The institute covers a campus area of 4 acres with a total built-up area of approximately 9,000 sq. metres, offering a compact yet fully equipped environment for academic and practical learning. In 2020, as part of the Delhi Government's transformative initiative to restructure vocational and technical education, GNDIT was merged into the newly established Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University (DSEU) and became the Guru Nanak Dev DSEU Rohini Campus. DSEU is a collegiate public state university recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 12B. This restructuring brought enhanced academic opportunities, vocational degree programmes, and greater industry linkages to the campus. The institute is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and its Diploma programmes are affiliated to the State Board of Technical Education (BTE), Delhi. The undergraduate and postgraduate vocational programmes — B.Voc and M.Voc — are affiliated to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), Delhi. Situated in Sector 15, Rohini, one of Delhi's most well-planned residential and institutional zones, the campus enjoys excellent connectivity. It is well-linked to the Delhi Metro Red Line (nearest station: Rohini West) and Yellow Line, with last-mile connectivity provided by electric rickshaws and other modes. The campus is surrounded by a thriving ecosystem of industries, established businesses, start-ups, and prominent healthcare institutions including Max Super Speciality Hospital and Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital, providing students with a unique exposure to a diverse professional and industrial environment. GNDIT offers a comprehensive range of programmes at the Diploma, undergraduate, and postgraduate levels. The flagship offerings include six full-time three-year Diploma programmes in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Polymer Technology. These are among the most popular and competitive Diploma engineering programmes in Delhi, attracting thousands of applicants through the CET Delhi entrance exam each year. At the undergraduate level, the institute offers two B.Voc programmes — in Software Development and Mobile Communication — under GGSIPU affiliation. At the postgraduate level, an M.Voc in Software Development is available for graduates and B.Voc holders. Together, these 9 programmes offer a combined annual seat intake of approximately 780 students. The infrastructure at GNDIT is designed to provide a modern, ICT-enabled learning environment. The institute features air-conditioned lecture halls equipped with smart boards, advanced department-specific laboratories, a well-stocked library with books, journals, and magazines, a canteen offering diverse and affordable meals, an auditorium and multiple seminar halls for academic events, an open-air gym and sports complex for physical fitness, and banking facilities on campus. Wi-Fi connectivity is available in key areas including the library and seminar halls. The institute also provides transportation facilities to students commuting from different parts of Delhi. The Training and Placement Cell at GNDIT is dedicated to bridging the gap between students and industry. The cell organises resume writing workshops, group discussions, mock interviews, corporate meets, personality development programmes, communication skills training, and counselling sessions throughout the academic year. This proactive placement ecosystem has resulted in consistent and strong placement records over the decades. Recruiters who have visited the campus include Wipro, Ericsson, HCL Infosystems, IBM, Samsung Electronics India, Essar Steel, Honeywell India, BSES Yamuna, TPDDL, Daimler India, ITC Food, Thermax India, and Ami Polymer, among many others, representing a broad spectrum of engineering, electronics, IT, and manufacturing sectors. Academically, GNDIT takes pride in its trained, competent, and highly dedicated faculty who impart both theoretical knowledge and practical skills to students. Regular involvement of expert faculty from other reputed institutions and organisations further enriches the learning experience and gives students wider industry exposure. The institution also organises industrial visits — such as the annual visit to Plast Asia at Pragati Maidan for Polymer Technology students — and celebrates occasions like Independence Day, Women's Day, Yoga Day, and Students' Activity Days to foster a vibrant and inclusive campus culture. Through its merger with DSEU, GNDIT continues to advance its core mission: to provide career-oriented, skill-based technical education that enables graduates to secure gainful employment or launch their own enterprises. With nearly three decades of legacy, a proven placement record, affordable government-level fees, and a location at the heart of North-West Delhi, Guru Nanak Dev Institute of Technology (GNDIT) remains one of the top government polytechnic choices for students aspiring to build careers in engineering and technology.
