Indian Institute of Information Technology Raichur (IIIT Raichur or IIITR) is an Institute of National Importance established in 2019 as a centre of academic excellence in Computer Science and Information Technology. It was formed under the Public-Private Partnership model with contributions from the Ministry of Education, Government of India, and the Government of Karnataka. The Institute of National Importance status was conferred under the IIIT Laws (Amendment) Act 2020. Industry partners include Karnataka Power Corporation Limited (KPCL) with a 15% stake in capital building, Bosch Global Software Technologies (Bengaluru), Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India (MBRDI, Bengaluru), and Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement. IIIT Raichur initially commenced its academic session at IIT Hyderabad, with mentoring from one of India's premier technical institutions. The institute now operates from a transit campus at Government Engineering College, Yeramarus, Raichur — 10 km from Raichur City and 7.2 km from the Raichur Bus Station. A permanent campus on a 75-acre site in Raichur is under construction and expected to be operational in the near future. IIIT Raichur is approximately 190 km from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad. The institute offers three B.Tech programmes: Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) with 80 seats, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (AI & DS) with 80 seats, and Mathematics and Computing (M&C) with 60 seats — totalling 220 seats as per JoSAA 2025 seat matrix. The curriculum at IIIT Raichur is particularly innovative — it follows a 'Fractal Academic System' emphasising continuous evaluation and modular courses, with core subjects integrated from the first semester itself. An Honours programme is available for students with CGPA ≥ 8.0 after 2nd year, requiring 12 additional discipline credits. From the JoSAA 2025 official fee structure, the total first-year cost including one-time fees (Rs. 27,000), refundable deposits (Rs. 15,000), and semester fees (Rs. 1,54,000 × 2 semesters) plus hostel charges (Rs. 60,000 × 2) comes to approximately Rs. 4.10 lakhs in Year 1. Total 4-year programme cost is approximately Rs. 12–14 lakhs including all charges. Placement outcomes at IIIT Raichur are developing positively with companies like MAQ, TCS, Infosys, Thoughtworks, and Wiley Edge participating in campus recruitment. The Bosch and Mercedes-Benz R&D connections through Board of Governors bring premium industry mentorship. The JEE Main closing ranks for IIIT Raichur in 2025 were 39,805 for CSE (General, Round 6) and 74,623 for Mathematics & Computing (closing). The training and placement cell conducts coding quizzes, soft skills training, and mock interviews to prepare students.
