The institute is strategically located near GIFT City (India's first operational smart city) and the industrial hubs of Gandhinagar and Vadodara, providing significant advantages for industry-academia interaction. While currently operating from a transit campus with modern labs and air-conditioned classrooms, a 50-acre permanent campus is under development at Dumad, Vadodara. The institute also has a satellite campus, IIITV-ICD in Diu. IIIT Vadodara is unique among government IIITs for offering MCA (Master of Computer Applications) and a BSc Online programme. It has 4 B.Tech specializations – CSE, IT, AI, and ECE – with a total intake of 415 seats for AY 2025-26, making it one of the larger PPP-model IIITs in India.
Currently, IIIT Vadodara operates from a transit campus at Government Engineering College, Sector-28, Gandhinagar. The permanent 50-acre campus is under development at Dumad, Vadodara. Additionally, IIIT Vadodara has a satellite campus – IIITV International Campus, Diu (IIITV-ICD) – established in 2020.
