Indian Institute of Information Technology, Vadodara (IIIT Vadodara or IIITV), currently based at C/O Block No.9, Government Engineering College, Sector-28, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, is an Institute of National Importance established in 2013 by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. Designated as an Institute of National Importance under The IIIT (PPP) Act, 2017, IIIT Vadodara is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and approved by AICTE. The institute is strategically located near GIFT City (India's first operational smart city) and the industrial hubs of Gandhinagar and Vadodara in Gujarat, providing significant advantages for industry-academia interaction. IIIT Vadodara is currently operating from a transit campus at GEC Gandhinagar with modern labs and air-conditioned classrooms, while its 50-acre permanent campus is under development at Dumad, Vadodara – a development that promises world-class infrastructure for future batches. The institute has a satellite campus – IIITV International Campus, Diu (IIITV-ICD) – established in 2020 in partnership with the Government of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu. IIIT Vadodara offers B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Information Technology (IT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) at the undergraduate level. The total B.Tech intake for AY 2025-26 is 415 students across all four branches. At the postgraduate level, M.Tech is offered in multiple specializations. MCA (Master of Computer Applications) and Ph.D. programmes are also available. A unique offering is the BSc Online programme, one of the few government IIITs to offer an online undergraduate programme. The B.Tech fee structure, sourced directly from the official IIITV website (AY 2025-26), is as follows: Tuition fee is ₹1,25,000 per semester for all 8 semesters. There is NO fee waiver for any category at IIIT Vadodara. Total academic-related fees across 8 semesters are approximately ₹10.67 Lakhs (tuition only). Hostel staying is MANDATORY; hostel fee ranges from ₹40,500 to ₹46,000 per semester, and transport fee is ₹9,500 to ₹10,000 per semester. The total annual grand total including all charges is approximately ₹4.53 Lakhs. IIIT Vadodara has an impressive and improving placement record. In 2025, the highest package was INR 56.30 LPA (BTech CSE), with an average of INR 12 LPA and a median of INR 9 LPA. The BTech placement rate in 2025 was approximately 60% (on-campus). In 2024, the highest on-campus package was ₹40 LPA and off-campus ₹1.33 Crore; 53 companies visited; average ₹11.34 LPA; median ₹9 LPA. Top recruiters include Amazon, Microsoft, Adobe, Jio, Siemens, MathWorks, Goldman Sachs, Samsung, Infosys, TCS, Cognizant, Wipro, Capgemini, Oracle, VMware, Ericsson, and Flipkart. The 2023 placement drive saw a 97.21% rate with an average of ₹15.34 LPA for CSE. Campus life includes a Gymkhana with multiple student clubs and societies, a digital library with MATLAB, Moodle LMS, and e-resources, a sports complex, and all essential student amenities. Students have mandatory laptop ownership. IIIT Vadodara is ranked 90th by Collegedunia (2025) in the B.Tech category and in the 201-300 band by NIRF 2024 in Engineering.
