Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing, Kancheepuram (IIITDM Kancheepuram) is a premier Institute of National Importance established in 2007 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (now Ministry of Education), Government of India. Situated on a 51.75-acre fully residential campus on the outskirts of Chennai off the Vandalur-Kelambakkam Road, IIITDM Kancheepuram was accorded the status of an Institute of National Importance in July 2011. The institute was established with a specialized mandate: to promote design and manufacturing-oriented engineering education and research, thereby strengthening India's competitive advantage in global product markets.
