Indian Institute of Carpet Technology (IICT), Bhadohi, is the only institute of its kind in Asia, established in 2001 by the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. Under the administrative control of the Office of Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), the institute is located in Bhadohi — globally renowned as the 'Carpet City of India' — situated on Chauri Road, approximately 4 km from Bhadohi Railway Station. IICT Bhadohi is affiliated with Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Lucknow. The flagship B.Tech (Carpet & Textile Technology) programme is approved by AICTE and accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) for 3.5 years. The institute laboratory is NABL certified, and IICT holds ISO 9001:2000 certification. It is also a member of the Textile Institute, Manchester, UK; the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE); and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
