Admission Process
Step 1: Meet the Basic EligibilityEnsure you hold a completed Bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PwD candidates) or an equivalent professional qualification (like CA/CS/ICWA). Step 2: Register and Appear for the CAT ExamApply for the Common Admission Test (CAT) through the official IIM CAT Website. You must achieve high sectional and overall percentiles. The general category cutoff usually exceeds the 95 to 99 percentile threshold. Step 3: Shortlisting for PI & WATCandidates who clear the initial CAT cutoff are shortlisted for the PI and WAT rounds. This shortlist is based on a composite score of your CAT performance, 10th and 12th board marks, academic diversity, and any prior work experience. Step 4: Clear the Personal Interview (PI) and Writing Ability Test (WAT)Attend the PI and WAT rounds at designated centers. You will be evaluated on your communication skills, analytical thinking, leadership potential, and awareness of current events. Step 5: Final Selection Merit ListThe final selection list is generated based on a comprehensive composite score. The standard weight distribution for the final merit list heavily favors your PI performance, followed by the CAT score and profile attributes like work experience and gender/academic diversity. Step 6: Accept Offer and Pay FeesIf you make the final merit list, IIM Calcutta will send an admission offer via email. You must formally accept the offer and pay the required commitment fee to lock in your seat in the incoming MBA batch.

Admission Process

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree with a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (45% for SC, ST, and PwD categories) from a recognised university. Final-year students awaiting results may apply provisionally, subject to submission of final marks and degree certificates by the stipulated deadlines.

Shortlisting, WAT and Personal Interview

Shortlisted candidates are ranked using a composite score derived from CAT performance and academic record, and are then invited for a Written Ability Test (WAT) followed by a Personal Interview (PI). Final admission offers weigh CAT score, academic consistency, work experience, and diversity factors such as gender and academic discipline.

Admission Routes for Executive Programmes

The Executive MBA and PGPEX programmes admit candidates primarily through GMAT scores combined with a minimum of four to five years of managerial or professional experience, while the doctoral programme also accepts GRE, GATE, and UGC-NET (JRF) scores in place of CAT or GMAT.
