An MBA at IIM Calcutta is a significant financial commitment, since the total programme fee is Rs. 27,00,000 for two years, which is Rs. 13,50,000 per year, paid term-wise over six terms. The fee covers tuition and residence on campus, and a refundable caution deposit is collected in addition. Students who need support should plan early for education loans, which are widely available to students of the Institute, and for the institutional financial assistance that IIM Calcutta provides to students who have demonstrated need. The amount of assistance depends on the assessment of each student's situation and is decided by the Institute after admission.

Scholarships and Financial Support at IIM Calcutta

The executive programmes are largely self-funded or sponsored by employers, and their fees are fixed in advance. The MBAEx has a programme fee of Rs. 33,50,000 for the 2025-26 batch, which includes tuition, books, accommodation, economy airfare and part of the immersion programme, and a security deposit of Rs. 60,000 is refundable after adjustment of dues. The commitment fee of Rs. 2,00,000 is paid on acceptance of the offer and is part of the total. The PGPEX-VLM costs Rs. 13,50,000, and the fees and charges paid are not refundable under any circumstances, so candidates must be certain of their plans before they accept an offer.

The PGDBA, which is offered jointly by ISI, IIT Kharagpur and IIM Calcutta, has a programme fee of Rs. 27,00,000 for the 2026-28 batch, split equally into Rs. 13,50,000 for the first year and Rs. 13,50,000 for the second year. The fee is paid in four equal instalments at the time of registration for each semester, and late payment attracts penalties. It covers tuition, on-campus lodging, some books and study materials, examination materials and laboratory charges, but not caution money, food or travel costs. Candidates should read the programme notes carefully before planning their finances. See the fee structure page for the details of each programme.

Students from reserved categories can also look at central and state government scholarship schemes for SC, ST and OBC students, which have their own eligibility conditions and income limits. IIM Calcutta applies the Government of India reservation policy for central educational institutions in admissions, including 5 percent of seats for persons with benchmark disabilities, and it states that it welcomes a highly inclusive academic environment. A refund of fees is governed by the notification of the Ministry of Education on refund of fees, which is linked on the Institute's website. Candidates who want to understand the process before they apply can read the admission page.
