Indian Institute of Technology Bhilai (IIT Bhilai), established on 7 August 2016 by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, is one of the newest Institutes of National Importance and stands as Chhattisgarh's premier technical institution. Located in Bhilai — widely known as the Steel City of Central India — IIT Bhilai moved to its permanent campus in Kutelabhata village, District Durg in August 2023. The campus spans 447+ acres with a GRIHA 5-Star LD sustainability rating, integrating rooftop solar panels, afforestation of 3,100+ native trees, natural water body preservation, and smart waste management. The campus is well-connected: 5.4 km from Durg Junction railway station and 54 km from Swami Vivekananda Airport, Raipur. Academically, IIT Bhilai offers B.Tech in 7 specializations (CSE, DSAI, EE, ECE, ME, MSME, Mechatronics) with a total seat strength of 283; M.Tech across 13 specializations; M.Sc in Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics & Computing; and Ph.D. in 11 disciplines.
