Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT Guwahati or IITG) is a premier public technical university established in 1994 by an Act of Parliament, with academic programs commencing in 1995. Situated on the picturesque north bank of the mighty Brahmaputra River in Amingaon, North Guwahati, Assam, IITG is the sixth Indian Institute of Technology to be established in India and is officially recognized as an Institute of National Importance by the Government of India. In 2025, the overall placement percentage stood at 62% with 1,001 of 1,606 students placed; the highest package was INR 1.25 crore and the B.Tech average stood at INR 25.21 LPA.
