About Indian Institute of Technology Indore
Indian Institute of Technology Indore (IIT Indore) is a premier Institute of National Importance established in 2009, situated on a modern 501-acre campus at Simrol, 25 km from Indore city. Mentored by IIT Bombay in its formative years, IIT Indore has rapidly grown into one of India's top engineering and research institutions. It is ranked #12 in Engineering and #27 Overall by NIRF 2025, and #556 globally in QS World University Rankings 2026. The institute offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes in Engineering, Sciences, Design, and Humanities, with 212 faculty members holding PhDs from IITs, IISc, and top global universities. Signature programmes include B.Tech in Space Science and Engineering (one of the very few at any IIT), B.Tech in Biosciences and Biomedical Engineering (with AIIMS Bhopal collaboration), and M.Sc in Astronomy. Yes, hostel accommodation is compulsory for all students at IIT Indore. The institute has five halls of residence named after Indian rivers (Kshipra, Narmada, etc.), with separate accommodation for boys and girls. Each hostel block features 6BHK + 2 toilet + 2 bathroom unit systems. The campus is expanding with 3 additional hostel blocks (750 capacity each) and new studio apartments under construction. Hostel fee is approximately INR 35,000–40,000 per semester including mess charges.
The total B.Tech tuition fee at IIT Indore is approximately INR 8.65 lakhs for 4 years, or about INR 2.16 lakhs per year. Additional charges include hostel and mess fees of approximately INR 35,000–40,000 per semester. SC/ST/PwD students receive 100% tuition fee waiver plus hostel and mess fee waiver and INR 250/month stipend. Students from families with income below INR 1 lakh get full tuition remission, while those with income INR 1–5 lakhs receive 2/3rd remission.
