About Indira Gandhi Government Medical College & Hospital, Nagpur

Indira Gandhi Government Medical College & Hospital (IGGMCH), Nagpur is one of Maharashtra's oldest and most prestigious government medical colleges. Established as Corporation Medical College in 1967 and transferred to the State Government in 1968 as IGMC, it traces its heritage to Mayo Hospital (est. 1905) and Robertson Medical School (1914). Located on Central Avenue, near Nagpur Railway Station, Mominpura, Nagpur — 440018, it is one of only two government medical colleges in Nagpur city (the other being GMC Nagpur at Ajni). The college occupies a 39.35-acre lush green campus with college, administrative office, and hostel buildings. Affiliated to MUHS Nashik and approved by NMC, it is administered by DMER, Government of Maharashtra. IGGMCH offers MBBS (200 seats), MD/MS PG (115 seats across 19 disciplines), PG Diploma, and BPMT (Bachelor of Paramedical Technology) programmes. The attached teaching hospital has 822 beds (including 723 teaching + 99 service beds) with 7,00,000+ outpatient visits annually — making it one of Central India's busiest tertiary care hospitals. It is one of the top ten government medical colleges in Maharashtra. During NEET 2021–2024 counselling combined, 41 candidates were allotted seats.
