Admission to KSET's diploma programmes is conducted through the Diploma Entrance Test (DET), administered at the state level by the Directorate of Technical Education & Training (DTET), Odisha. Candidates who have passed Class 10 (Matriculation) or an equivalent examination with Science and Mathematics are eligible to appear for DET, after which the Directorate conducts centralised, state-level counselling to allot seats across participating diploma institutes, including KSET, based on the candidate's rank, branch preference, and seat availability. Once allotted a seat, candidates are required to report to KSET with their original academic documents for verification and to complete the fee payment process in order to confirm their admission. The institute also participates in the Lateral Entry admission process for ITI pass-outs, who are eligible for direct admission into the second year of the relevant diploma branch, subject to the eligibility and seat-allotment procedure notified separately by SCTE & VT, Odisha each academic session.

Admission Process at KSET Bhawanipatna

Because DET Odisha is a state-level examination and counselling process shared across all diploma institutes in Odisha rather than an institute-specific test, the exact registration window, examination date, and counselling schedule are announced afresh each year by DTET Odisha and are not fixed from one academic session to the next. Prospective applicants are therefore advised to track the current-year DET Odisha notification directly on the official DTET Odisha portal, or to contact KSET's admission office directly, rather than relying on a single fixed date across years. The institute has indicated that admissions for the 2026-27 academic session are open, and interested candidates can reach the institute's admission helpline numbers listed on its official website for the latest application guidance specific to the current cycle. Applicants opting for Lateral Entry after an ITI qualification should similarly confirm the current-year Lateral Entry notification and seat-matrix separately, since this admission window and its associated eligibility documentation are typically announced on a slightly different timeline from the main DET Odisha cycle for first-year entrants.

  • Class 10 (Matriculation) mark sheet and passing certificate, or ITI trade certificate for Lateral Entry applicants
  • DET Odisha admit card and rank card / counselling allotment letter
  • Transfer certificate and conduct certificate from the previous institution
  • Category/caste validity certificate, where applicable, for state government scholarship eligibility
  • Passport-size photographs and identity proof
  • Domicile/residence proof, where required for state-quota seat allotment

Students from economically weaker or historically underserved backgrounds admitted at KSET may also be eligible for state government financial assistance; details on the scholarship options available to SC, ST and other backward-class students can help such applicants plan their admission budget more accurately ahead of joining.
