Yes, KMCRI is a fully government-funded autonomous medical institution established and run by the Government of Karnataka. It has been accorded the status of Institute of Excellence by the Karnataka Government.

KMCRI has 200 NMC-approved MBBS seats per year (recently expanded from 150). All seats are filled through KEA (State Quota, 85%) and MCC AIQ (15%). No NRI or Management quota.

MBBS tuition fee is ₹64,350 per year (2024-25 Karnataka Government norms), totalling approximately ₹2.89 lakhs for the full 4.5-year academic duration. No management or NRI quota fees exist.
