K.H. Patil Institute of Medical Sciences (KPIMS), Gadag — formerly known as Gadag Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) — is a fully autonomous government medical college established in 2014 by the Government of Karnataka, located at Mallasamudra village on the Gadag–Laxmeshwar Road, within the premises of the Government District Hospital, Gadag. The college was renamed to K.H. Patil Institute of Medical Sciences effective 06 January 2026 by a Government of Karnataka order, honouring the late K.H. Patil — former MLA and Minister from Gadag district — as announced by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on 17 March 2025. KPIMS is affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Bengaluru, and is approved by the National Medical Commission (NMC), WHO, and Paramedical Board Bengaluru. Spread across 54 acres, the college building covers over 51,000 sq.m. and is equipped with six lecture halls (250+ seats each), two examination halls (250-seat capacity each), an auditorium, NMC-compliant departmental laboratories, departmental museums, an Air-Conditioned Museum, a well-stocked Central Library (with Digital Library under construction), and sports grounds (gymnasium under construction). The attached KPIMS Teaching Hospital — started at 350 beds and currently at 300+ operational beds — is being upgraded to 750 beds under Phase 2 expansion. It serves over 600 OPD patients daily and provides 24×7 emergency services along with super-specialty services in Cardiology, Nephrology, Endocrinology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Urology, Plastic Surgery, and Paediatric Surgery. The hospital team includes over 100 doctors, 40 nurses, lab technicians, and teaching and non-teaching staff. Affiliated teaching hospitals include Dundappa Manvi Maternal and Child Health Care Hospital (K.C. Rani Road, Gadag) and Urban Health Training Centre (Gandhi Circle, Gadag).
