About Maharishi Markandeshwar (Deemed to be University), Mullana-Ambala
Maharishi Markandeshwar (Deemed to be University), Mullana-Ambala, popularly known as MM(DU) or MMDU Mullana, is a private, multi-disciplinary deemed university located on the Ambala-Yamunanagar Highway in Mullana, in the Ambala district of Haryana. Its story begins in November 1993, when the Maharishi Markandeshwar Education Trust was founded by Shri Tarsem Kumar Garg with the aim of bringing quality technical, professional and medical education to the tier-II and tier-III belt of northern India. What started as a self-financing engineering and medical initiative grew steadily over the following years, and in June 2007 the Central Government, acting on the advice of the University Grants Commission, formally declared it a Deemed to be University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956. More than three decades on, MM(DU) has become one of the largest self-financing universities in the region, spread across a sprawling campus that brings together faculties of Engineering, Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Paramedical Sciences, Management, Computer Applications, Commerce, Law, Agriculture, Hotel Management and Journalism under a single administrative umbrella.

Maharishi Markandeshwar (Deemed to be University), Mullana-Ambala - Overview
The university's academic credibility rests on a fairly broad base of recognitions rather than a single badge. It carries the highest 'A++' grade from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, is recognised by the University Grants Commission as a Deemed University, and its individual professional programmes are separately approved by their respective sector regulators - the All India Council for Technical Education for engineering and management, the National Medical Commission framework for MBBS and MD/MS, the Pharmacy Council of India for its pharmacy programmes, the Indian Nursing Council for its nursing degrees, the Bar Council of India for its law programmes, and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research for its agriculture degrees. What sets MM(DU) apart from many single-faculty private universities is the sheer breadth of its academic ecosystem: a student pursuing engineering shares a campus with medical, pharmacy, nursing, law and agriculture students, and can draw on shared research infrastructure, an Entrepreneurship Development Cell and cross-disciplinary electives. Close to 11,000 students are currently enrolled, guided by over 700 faculty members, with roughly two in five students coming from outside Haryana and a long-running international cohort drawn from more than 30 countries, supported by collaboration agreements with universities such as Boston University in the United States and the University of Bedfordshire in the United Kingdom. Students evaluating the university can review the detailed course-wise fee structure before applying.
The campus infrastructure is anchored by the M.M. Institute of Medical Sciences & Research teaching hospital, a networked Central Library system linked to INFLIBNET, DELNET and NPTEL, multiple hostel blocks for men and women, sports complexes, and a campus-wide Wi-Fi network. A closer look at individual amenities, along with the university's approach to hostels, labs and student support services, is available on the campus facilities page, while category-wise ranking and approval details are covered under the rankings and approvals section of this profile. For students weighing a large multi-disciplinary Haryana university against smaller single-stream private colleges, MM(DU)'s combination of NAAC A++ accreditation, decades of operating history and breadth of regulated professional programmes makes it a frequently shortlisted option in the Ambala-Yamunanagar-Chandigarh education corridor.
