About Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church Medical College, Kolenchery

Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church Medical College (MOSC Medical College), Kolenchery, is one of Kerala's premier private medical institutions established in 2001 (formal medical college recognition from 2002) under the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church Medical Mission. Affiliated with Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS) and recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC), MOSC is a Christian minority co-education institution situated on a 33-acre campus along NH 49 in Kolenchery, Ernakulam district, approximately 30 km from Kochi. The MOSC Medical Mission Hospital — the attached teaching hospital — began in 1970 with 100 beds and has grown into a 1,100-bed super-specialty facility equipped with MRI, 64-slice CT scanner, CathLab, 4D Ultrasound, and Dry Chemistry Lab. Super-specialty departments include Cardiology, Neurosurgery, Nephrology, Neonatology, Oncology, and more. MOSC offers 100 MBBS seats and postgraduate programs in 19 departments with 60 MD/MS seats and a super-specialty DM Neonatology course. The college has achieved hat-trick championship in all Kerala Inter-Medical Youth Festivals and is rated among the top three private medical colleges in Kerala.

Annual MBBS tuition fee is approximately INR 7 lakh for merit/AC reserved category (total course fee ~INR 40.8 lakh for 5 years). Special fee ~INR 50,000/year, hostel INR 28,000–50,000/year (depending on room type), and mess INR 4,000/month. NRI quota is approximately INR 25 lakh/year.

MOSC offers MD/MS programs in 19 departments including General Medicine, Paediatrics (5 seats), Anaesthesiology (3 seats), Psychiatry (3 seats), Radiodiagnosis (2 seats), OBG (3 seats), and General Surgery (1 seat). PG Diplomas are available in OBG, Anaesthesiology, Psychiatry, Neonatology, and Paediatrics. A super-specialty DM Neonatology (2 seats) is also offered.

MOSC Medical College was established in 2001 (operational from 2002), making it one of the older private medical colleges in Kerala. The MOSC Medical Mission Hospital attached to it has been functioning since 1970, originally as a 100-bed facility, now expanded to 1,100 beds.

MOSC Medical College is approximately 28–30 km from Ernakulam/Kochi town and 30 km from Cochin International Airport. The nearest railway station is Aluva (25 km). The college is accessible via NH 49 (Kochi–Madurai highway).
