National Institute of Technology Andhra Pradesh (NIT AP) is the youngest among all 31 NITs in India, established in 2015 by an Act of Parliament (NIT Amendment Bill, 2016). Located in Tadepalligudem, West Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh, it is recognized by UGC and approved by AICTE as an Institute of National Importance. NIT AP was established after a bill was passed by Rajya Sabha on August 1, 2016, to create the 31st NIT. Despite being the newest NIT, the institute has rapidly developed its academic programmes and infrastructure. NIT AP offers 33 courses across 5 streams at UG, PG, and PhD levels. B.Tech specializations include Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Biotechnology. M.Tech specializations include Power Electronics and Drives, VLSI, Structural Engineering, and more. Admissions follow standard NIT processes: JEE Main + JoSAA for B.Tech, GATE + CCMT for M.Tech. The JEE Main cutoff for 2025 general category (OS) ranged from approximately 18,000 to 57,000 for various branches. CSE remains the most competitive branch. NIT AP placements are developing. During the 2024 batch, the highest package was reported in the IT sector. Approximately 25 companies visit for placements including TCS, Infosys, and others. The placement cell is actively working to improve industry connections. The institute organizes cultural events, competitions, and departmental activities. The campus is developing modern infrastructure. Faculty members are well-qualified and focused on both teaching and research. NIT AP promotes research in emerging areas of engineering and technology. The institute benefits from its location in Andhra Pradesh, a state with growing IT and industrial sectors.
