National Institute of Technology Mizoram (NIT Mizoram) was established in 2010 as one of the 31 NITs in India, designated as an Institute of National Importance by an Act of Parliament. The institute is accredited by AICTE and NBA, and is fully funded by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. NIT Mizoram currently operates from a temporary campus in Aizawl while its permanent campus near Lengpui Airport is under construction. The permanent campus spans approximately 190 acres. Situated amidst the picturesque landscapes of Aizawl in the northeastern state of Mizoram, the institute provides a serene environment for academic growth. The institute offers B.Tech programmes in Computer Science and Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. M.Tech and PhD programmes are also available. B.Tech admissions are through JEE Main scores via JoSAA counselling. The total B.Tech fee is approximately INR 6 to 6.07 lakhs for the entire 4-year programme. NIT Mizoram has achieved excellent placement results. During 2025 placements, 93.1% of students were placed. The highest package was INR 35 LPA, with an average package of INR 8.4-8.5 LPA. CSE achieved 97% placement rate, while CE and EE recorded 93% each, and EEE 89%. Top recruiters include TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Microsoft, Jio, IBM, Johnson Control India, Polaris, and more. As per NIRF 2025, NIT Mizoram secured a position in the 101-150 rank band in the Engineering category. The median package for UG students was INR 6 LPA and PG was INR 7 LPA. The campus is approximately 35 km from Lengpui Airport and 179 km from Silchar Railway Station. Facilities include modern classrooms, laboratories, computer centres, a library, hostels for boys and girls with basic amenities, playgrounds, and areas for sports and cultural activities. Faculty members are highly qualified and student-friendly, helping students gain practical knowledge.
