National Institute of Technology Sikkim (NIT Sikkim) was established in 2010 as an autonomous Institute of National Importance by an Act of Parliament. Located in the scenic town of Ravangla in South Sikkim, the institute is recognized by UGC and approved by AICTE. NIT Sikkim currently operates from a temporary campus at Ravangla with views of Mt. Kanchenjunga, the world's third-highest peak. The permanent campus is under development. Despite being a newer NIT, the institute has shown remarkable growth in placements and academic quality. Notable offers include Optym (INR 17.86 LPA, 5 students), Cradlepoint (INR 16.6 LPA), Infineon (INR 15.9 LPA), SLB (INR 14 LPA), and TA Digital (INR 12 LPA). The 2024 batch received 81 job offers. Top recruiters include Microsoft, National Instruments, Bosch, Virtusa, IBM, L&T, Polaris, Infosys, Wipro, Mu Sigma, TCS, and Intellect. The climate at Ravangla is pleasant year-round with cold nights and sunny mornings. Faculty members are supportive and highly qualified. NIRF 2025 places NIT Sikkim in the 151-200 rank band. The institute's technical fest is called Abhiyantran. Facilities include smart classrooms, well-equipped labs, library, hostels (though currently 5-bedded sharing), Wi-Fi on campus, and bus services for students.
