National Post Graduate College (NPGC), Lucknow was established in 1974 by the then Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Late Chandra Bhanu Gupta. Located at 2, Rana Pratap Marg, close to the banks of the river Gomti in the heart of Lucknow, the college has a lush green campus surrounded by major academic and administrative institutions. In a city of 16 universities and more than 150 degree colleges, National P.G. College is the only college that enjoys the highest status of CPE (College with Potential for Excellence) and Autonomous status, and is NAAC Accredited Grade 'A'. The college offers under-graduate and post-graduate courses in the Arts and Commerce faculties, and under-graduate courses in the Science and Computer faculties. It also offers UG and PG programmes for skill development under the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Kaushal Kendra (DDUKK), established with a special grant from the University Grants Commission (UGC), covering ICT, ITES and Banking, Insurance & Financial Services. The college has well-equipped labs, a computerised and rich central library (65,000+ print holdings), e-library with INFLIBNET access, a data analysis centre and an air-conditioned reading room. It is also a recognised study centre for IGNOU and UPRTOU, Allahabad, offering certificate, diploma and degree programmes in distance mode with regular consultation and remedial classes. NPGC offers 19 Under-Graduate programmes (B.A., B.Com., B.Sc., B.B.A., B.B.A.-Digital Business, B.C.A., B.Com.-Hons., B.Com.-eCommerce, B.Voc. programmes in Software Development & E-Governance, Banking & Finance, Hotel Management, Hospital Management, Medical Lab Technology, Operation Theatre Technology and Physiotherapy, B.A.J.M.C., B.P.H., and B.Com. with ACCA/CFA add-ons), 12 Post-Graduate programmes (M.A./M.Sc. in Anthropology, Economics, English, Geography, Political Science, Psychology, Chemistry, Geoinformatics, M.Com, M.Voc. in Software & E-Governance and Banking, Stock & Insurance, and M.P.H.), 6 Diploma/PG-Diploma programmes and 6 short-term Certificate courses. Admission to UG programmes is through LUACMAT/LUACCET counselling conducted for Lucknow University associated colleges. The college runs NSS and NCC programmes as part of its outreach activities and offers rigorous training in indoor and outdoor sports such as Chess, Table Tennis, Lawn Tennis, Badminton, athletics and cricket, including the long-running Chandra Bhanu Gupta Inter Degree Collegiate Cricket Tournament (Amit Singh Trophy). A dedicated Training & Placement Cell — comprising a placement head, teacher coordinators and a student placement committee — facilitates campus recruitment and industry connect for students.
