About Netaji Subhas University of Technology, Delhi
Netaji Subhas University of Technology (NSUT), formerly known as Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology (NSIT), is one of Delhi's most prestigious and sought-after engineering institutions. Situated in Sector-3, Dwarka, New Delhi, the university is spread over a sprawling residential campus of 145 acres, offering a vibrant academic environment enriched with modern infrastructure, dedicated research facilities, and a rich culture of innovation. The institution traces its origins back to 1983, when it was established as the Delhi Institute of Technology (DIT) by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, with the primary objective of meeting the rapidly growing demand for technically skilled manpower. The institute was initially affiliated with the Faculty of Technology, University of Delhi, and began PhD programmes as early as 1989. In 1997, it was renamed Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology (NSIT) in honour of the revered Indian freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. Following the passage of the Delhi Netaji Subhas University of Technology Act, 2017 (Delhi Act 06 of 2018), the institute was elevated to a non-affiliating state university on 26 September 2018, and was renamed Netaji Subhas University of Technology (NSUT), granting it full autonomy to design and award its own degrees. NSUT is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The university has consistently maintained a strong national presence in rankings. As per NIRF 2025, NSUT is ranked 70th in the Engineering category, 39th among State Public Universities, and placed in the 101โ150 band under the Overall and Universities categories. The India Today 2024 ranking places it 8th nationally in engineering. QS World University Rankings 2026 rank it 901โ950 in Asia and 297th in the Southern Asia category. Academically, NSUT offers a diverse portfolio of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes. The flagship B.Tech programme is offered across 15+ specialisations including Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information Technology, Mathematics and Computing, Biotechnology, and several emerging interdisciplinary areas such as CSE with Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Internet of Things, and ECE with AI & Machine Learning. Admission to B.Tech is based on JEE Main scores through the Joint Admission Counselling (JAC) Delhi process. The university also offers a two-year MBA programme specialising in Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Venture Development; M.Tech programmes in multiple disciplines for postgraduates; M.Sc in Mathematics; BBA in Finance, Marketing, and HR; B.Des and B.Arch programmes; and PhD programmes across engineering, sciences, and management disciplines. The library has 24/7 access in designated areas and supports digital research resources. The university has state-of-the-art research labs, a computer centre, language lab, drawing halls, and conference rooms across departments. Sports and fitness are integral to campus life. NSUT has cricket and football grounds, basketball, volleyball, and badminton courts, a running track, a gym, table tennis rooms, and facilities for athletics events like long jump, discus throw, and shot put. The campus also has an auditorium capable of accommodating hundreds of students and guests for major functions, cultural programmes, and convocations. Campus life at NSUT is vibrant and multifaceted.
