NWIMSR is accredited by NAAC with an 'A+' grade, is affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) for its MBA, BBA and Ph.D. degrees, and its MBA programme is separately approved by AICTE with 180 sanctioned seats. The institute is also recognised by the Government of Maharashtra and participates in the state's DTE-Maharashtra CAP counselling system, which is the primary route through which nearly all seats are filled.

On survey rankings, the most notable independent placement is 109th in India's Best B-School category by Business Today, a widely recognised B-school ranking survey. Some third-party aggregator sites also show broader listing ranks (around 294th nationally and 37th within Pune specifically), though these aggregator-generated rankings use different, less transparent methodologies than an established media B-school survey and should be read with that caveat in mind.
