The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Bengaluru, was set up in 1997 as part of NIFT's pan-India network of professionally managed campuses under the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. Located in the tree-lined HSR Layout, it is one of 16 campuses referenced on NIFT's official 'Campuses' page and is currently headed by Dr Yathindra L., Director (I/c). The campus offers undergraduate B.Des./B.F.Tech. programmes in Foundation, Accessory Design, Apparel Production, Fashion Communication, Fashion Design, Knitwear Design and Textile Design, alongside postgraduate M.Des., M.F.M. and M.F.Tech. programmes. NIFT is a statutory body empowered by the NIFT Act, 2006, to grant its own degrees. Pass in Class 10+2 (or equivalent) from a recognized Central/State Board, in any stream (Arts/Science/Commerce), OR a pass grade in the Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of 5 subjects, OR a 3- or 4-year AICTE/State Board of Technical Education-recognized diploma after Class 10. Selection via GAT (Computer Based Test) and CAT (Paper Based Test), followed by a Situation Test, as per the official NIFT Admission Guidelines 2026.

Required Entrance Exams

NIFT Entrance Exam (NIFTEE) - GAT (Computer Based Test) & CAT (Paper Based Test), conducted by NTA

Eligibility Criteria
Varies by programme; see individual course entries. International applicants (NRI/OCI/PIO/SAARC/Foreign Nationals) are exempt from GAT/CAT and are assessed via SAT/GMAT/GRE and portfolio, as per the official NTA Information Bulletin 2026.
Admission Process
All candidates apply online for the NIFT Entrance Examination via https://exams.nta.nic.in/niftee/. B.Des. and M.Des. candidates take both GAT and CAT; B.F.Tech., M.F.Tech. and M.F.M. candidates take only the GAT. Shortlisted B.Des. candidates then appear for a Situation Test, while PG (M.Des./M.F.M./M.F.Tech.) candidates appear for a Personal Interview. Final admission and campus allotment (including Bengaluru) is through NIFT's centralized counselling based on the combined merit score.
