NIFT Patna was started in June 2008 from a transit campus at Udyog Bhavan, Gandhi Maidan, Patna, and has functioned from its own permanent 6-acre campus at Mithapur Farms, Patna, since July 2014. It is currently headed by Col Rahul Sharma, Director. The campus offers undergraduate B.Des./B.F.Tech. programmes in Foundation, Accessory Design, Apparel Production, Fashion Communication, Fashion Design and Textile Design, along with a postgraduate M.F.M. programme. NIFT is a statutory body empowered by the NIFT Act, 2006, to grant its own degrees. NIFT Patna's infrastructure includes specialized design studios, garment construction labs, a digital resource centre, smart classrooms, on-campus housing, a gym and sports facilities, and an amphitheatre.
