Prakash Institute of Medical Sciences & Research (PIMS), Urun-Islampur is a private, self-financed medical college in Sangli district, Maharashtra, established in 2016 by the Prakash Shikshan Mandal. It is named after Shree Prakash Ji, the late father of its founder, Shree Nishikant (Dada) Bhosale-Patil. The college is affiliated to the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS), Nashik, and its MBBS programme is recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC), New Delhi. PIMS offers MBBS (a 4.5-year academic course followed by a compulsory 1-year rotatory internship) with an annual intake of 150 seats (127 General/State-quota seats and 23 NRI-quota seats). The college also runs MD/MS postgraduate programmes across ten clinical specializations — General Medicine, General Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Orthopaedics, Anaesthesia, Radiology, Dermatology, ENT, and Ophthalmology. The college is attached to Prakash Hospital & Research Centre, Urun-Islampur — a multi-specialty teaching hospital with 665 functional teaching beds and an average daily OPD footfall of over 1,170 patients, giving students substantial hands-on clinical exposure, including rural and semi-urban healthcare outreach. Campus infrastructure includes air-conditioned classrooms, an auditorium, a well-stocked library, laboratories, a sports complex, a cafeteria, a gym, Wi-Fi connectivity, separate hostels for boys and girls, a shuttle service, an alumni association, and on-campus banking facilities. Admission to MBBS is entirely through NEET-UG followed by Maharashtra state (MAHCET/CET Cell) centralized counselling for State-quota seats, with separate direct-institutional and NRI-quota processes; MD/MS admissions follow NEET-PG and MAHCET PG counselling.
