Raja Balwant Singh Engineering Technical Campus (FETRBS/RBSETC), located at Bichpuri, Agra, is one of the oldest and most established private engineering institutions in Uttar Pradesh. Established in 1996, it is governed by the Balwant Educational Society, which has its roots going back to 1885 — chaired by the District and Sessions Judge, Agra, and with Raja Anirudh Pal Singh Ji of the royal family of Awagarh as Vice President. The institution is named in honour of the late Raja Balwant Singh Ji, the erstwhile ruler of Awagarh Estate, who was known for his vision and commitment to spreading education. The Faculty of Engineering and Technology at RBSETC was started in 1996 with three initial branches: Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, and Food Technology. Over the years, the college expanded significantly — Biotechnology and Mechanical Engineering were added in 2004; M.Tech in Food Technology in 2006; Electrical Engineering and Civil Engineering in 2012-13; and M.Tech in Biotechnology, CSE, and ECE were added in 2014-15. The Faculty of Pharmacy was added in the academic session 2011-12 with B.Pharm. At present, RBSETC has an AICTE approved UG intake of 540 seats (B.Tech across multiple branches) and 63 seats for M.Tech programmes, as per NIRF 2024 data. The institution is affiliated with AKTU Lucknow (AKTU College Code: 004) for engineering and pharmacy programmes. The B.Pharm course is approved by PCI (Code: 1122). RBSETC's campus is extensive, accommodating nearly 1,250 students in hostel facilities across four boys' hostels and one girls' hostel, all fully equipped with RO water plants, generator backup, indoor and outdoor recreation facilities, and boundary wall security. The campus also features a well-stocked library, computer centre with internet, gymnasium, guest house, canteen, transport service, medical centre, and sports infrastructure. The Training and Placement Cell is active and has facilitated placements at companies including HCL, Infosys, Microsoft, Aculife, IDS Infotech, Jaro Education, and Impulse Clinical Research. In 2023, the Engineering & Architecture stream achieved a placement rate of 73.28%, with 266 out of 363 graduating students placed. The median salary for the Engineering stream was Rs. 3.4 LPA. The institution has submitted NIRF data regularly and has an ARIIA (Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements) report. It is actively involved in research and development, with sponsored research projects and publications. The campus holds annual cultural, technical, and sports events enriching student life.
