Rajkiya Engineering College (R.E.C.) Ambedkar Nagar is a premier government engineering institution established by the Government of Uttar Pradesh under the Special Component Plan (SCP) in 2010. Located at Akbarpur–Tanda Road, Ambedkar Nagar, the college is a constituent college of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Lucknow, and is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The college was initially functioning from the campus of Kamla Nehru Institute of Technology, Sultanpur, before being shifted to its permanent campus at Ambedkar Nagar in August 2012. The college offers B.Tech programmes in three disciplines: Information Technology (IT), Electrical Engineering (EE), and Civil Engineering (CE), with an intake of 60 seats per branch. Additionally, REC Ambedkar Nagar offers Ph.D. programmes in Physics and Chemistry through the Department of Applied Sciences and Humanities. REC Ambedkar Nagar has received NBA accreditation valid from 2024 to 2027, reflecting the quality of its engineering programmes. The college spans a 20-acre campus with an air-conditioned central library, cyber library, gymnasium, swimming pool, and a sports complex accommodating football, volleyball, basketball, badminton, cricket, rugby, and indoor games. The campus has 8 hostel buildings — 5 for boys and 2 for girls — all equipped with Wi-Fi internet, hi-tech mess, solar water heaters, and modern amenities. The institute is supported by World Bank Financial Assistance under TEQIP-III, and houses the NICE Innovation and Incubation Centre fostering entrepreneurship. The Training and Placement Cell invites top companies including Infosys, Wipro, TCS, Tech Mahindra, Accenture, Cognizant, HCL, Amdocs, and others. As per NIRF 2025, the median salary package is INR 5.50 LPA with the highest packages reaching 10–12 LPA. The placement rate stands at approximately 70% as per 2024 records. The fee structure is highly affordable and UP government scholarships cover the majority of costs for eligible students.
