Rajkiya Engineering College (REC), Azamgarh, established in 2010 by the Government of Uttar Pradesh, is a premier government engineering institution formerly known as Manyawar Kanshiram Engineering College of Information Technology. Approved by AICTE and a constituent college of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Lucknow, REC Azamgarh has consistently provided quality technical education to students from eastern Uttar Pradesh. The college offers B.Tech programmes in three disciplines: Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, and Civil Engineering, with each branch having an approved intake of 60 seats. This means a total undergraduate intake of 180 students per academic year. Admission to all programmes is merit-based through JEE Main scores followed by UPTAC counselling conducted by AKTU Lucknow. Students from reserved categories and economically weaker sections are eligible for fee concessions and scholarships. REC Azamgarh has a well-structured and modern campus located at Village Akbalpur, Post Devgaon, Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh. The campus is equipped with modern laboratories for each department including dedicated IT labs, Mechanical labs, and Civil labs with latest instruments. The campus features 24x7 power supply, medical facilities, CCTV security, and Wi-Fi internet connectivity throughout. The centralised library at REC Azamgarh houses over 11,000 volumes of books across 600 titles and provides digital access through services such as MyLoft, DELNET, NDLI (National Digital Library of India), and other online information platforms. The library has a dedicated digital section with 28 computers and can seat 120 students simultaneously. Students benefit from Lending Services, Digital Library, Reference Services, Reprography Services, and Inter-Library Loan through DELNET. The college provides hostel accommodation through three separate hostel buildings: Visvesvaraya Hostel and Ramanujan Hostel for boys, and Kalpana Chawla Hostel for girls. Each hostel has 84 rooms with mess facilities, common halls, a general store, and medical facilities for the well-being of residents. The Training and Placement Cell at REC Azamgarh plays a central role in connecting students with industry. In the academic year 2024, students were placed with companies including Accenture, Tech Mahindra, Wipro, BYJU's, and TCS. The highest package offered stands at INR 10 LPA while the average package is around INR 4.5 LPA. The median package stood at INR 3.5 LPA in 2024. The college provides excellent sports facilities for both outdoor (athletic track, volleyball, football, tennis) and indoor games. REC Azamgarh has an anti-ragging cell, grievance cell, and strong student welfare systems in place. For the academic year 2025-26, the tuition fee for B.Tech at REC Azamgarh is INR 40,000 per semester. The total 4-year fee for a Day Scholar is approximately INR 2,32,400 and for a Hosteller (excluding mess advance) is approximately INR 2,91,800, making it one of the most affordable engineering colleges in eastern UP. AICTE scholarships including the Pragati Scholarship for girl students and the Saksham Scholarship for specially-abled students are available to eligible candidates.
