Rajkiya Engineering College, Bijnor (REC Bijnor), formerly known as Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar Engineering College of Information Technology, Bijnor, is a premier government engineering institution established in 2010 by the Government of Uttar Pradesh, Department of Technical Education. Set up under the Special Component Plan (SCP) of the Union Government to promote technical education among socially and economically weaker sections, it is approved by AICTE and affiliated with Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Lucknow. The college commenced admissions in 2010-11 with three branches — Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Information Technology — each with 60 seats. Computer Science Engineering and Mechanical Engineering branches were added from the academic year 2018-19. REC Bijnor is supported by World Bank Financial Assistance under TEQIP (Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme) Phase III, which has significantly upgraded its infrastructure, faculty, and teaching quality. The campus is located in Chandpur, Bijnor and offers modern academic facilities. The central library houses over 7,600 books and 850 titles in digital and print formats, supported by the LIBSIS Library Automation System with access to DELNET (40,000 journals, 5,000 e-journals, 1,00,000+ thesis/dissertations). The institute has well-equipped laboratories for all branches including upcoming AI and IoT labs. REC Bijnor provides extensive hostel facilities — five hostels for boys (capacity ~1,025) and one girls' hostel (capacity ~205) — all with RO water coolers, 24-hour internet, power generators, visitor rooms, and mess facilities. Admission is based on JEE Main scores through UPTAC counselling conducted by AKTU. SC/ST students with parental income below INR 2 lakhs per annum are eligible for full tuition fee waiver; OBC students receive government scholarships.
