Rajkiya Engineering College Kannauj (REC Kannauj) is a premier government engineering institution established by the Government of Uttar Pradesh in 2015. Situated on a fully residential campus at Aher, Tirwa Road, Kannauj, the college is affiliated with Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Lucknow, and is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. The college was initially set up with four branches — Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, and Civil Engineering — each with an annual intake of 60 students. Academic activities commenced from the 2016-17 session, and the college shifted to its own fully residential campus in July 2017. Today, REC Kannauj stands as one of the finest government engineering institutions in Uttar Pradesh, consistently striving for academic excellence and holistic student development. The college offers B.Tech programmes across four core engineering disciplines: Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, and Civil Engineering. Each department is equipped with well-furnished laboratories, experienced faculty, and modern teaching infrastructure. The Department of Applied Science and Humanities supports the foundational courses in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Communication Skills for first-year students, preparing them for rigorous technical education. REC Kannauj places great emphasis on research and innovation. The college has a vibrant Incubation Centre — Navotthan Startup Foundation — registered under Section 8 of the Companies Act 2013. It operates as a satellite incubator of Innovation Hub Uttar Pradesh and supports student entrepreneurs from idea to commercialisation under the UP Startup Policy 2020. The AICTE IDEA Lab at REC Kannauj provides students with advanced tools and equipment for rapid prototyping and innovation. The Training and Placement Cell (T&P) at REC Kannauj is highly proactive and industry-oriented. It has established strong connections with leading companies such as TCS, Cognizant, Accenture, Capgemini, MountBlue Technologies, and many others. The placement brochure for 2025-26 highlights an active placement record with the highest package of 10 LPA and average package around 5–6 LPA in 2024-25. The campus is fully residential and includes five hostel blocks for boys and girls, a student activity centre, canteen, grocery store, and other recreational facilities. The library is well stocked with books, journals, and digital resources. Sports facilities and a playground are available for student recreation. The college also has a Community Hall and a Guest House for official and academic purposes. IEEE Computer Society student chapter, Technical Club, Sports Club, Cultural Club, and Mental Health Club enrich student life on campus. Admissions to B.Tech programmes are through UPTAC (UP Technical Admission Counselling) based on JEE Main scores. SC/ST and economically weaker students can avail the Fee Waiver (FW) category, which exempts them from paying tuition fees of Rs. 40,000/-. The college maintains a strong NSS chapter and encourages students to participate in social service activities.
