SIET was established in 2004 under the Shambhunath Educational Society. It started with four B.Tech disciplines — CSE, ECE, EE, and IT — with 60 seats each, affiliated to AKTU (then UPTU) Lucknow under institution Code 162.
The highest package in 2024-25 was INR 10 LPA (offered by Mobiloitte to multiple CSE students). Other prominent packages include INR 6 LPA (Altier Electric Vehicle, Realty Smartz), INR 5 LPA (Policy Bazaar, ASC International, Black Apple Technologies, Tikona Infinet). Top recruiters include HCL Tech, Wipro, TCS, Cognizant, Nagarro Software, Bajaj Finserv, Kotak Mahindra, and SBI Card.
