SIET was established in 2004 under the Shambhunath Educational Society. It started with four B.Tech disciplines — CSE, ECE, EE, and IT — with 60 seats each, affiliated to AKTU (then UPTU) Lucknow under institution Code 162.

SIET offers B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering (180 seats), CSE with AI & ML (60 seats), Civil Engineering (60 seats), Electrical Engineering (60 seats), Electronics and Communication Engineering (60 seats), and Mechanical Engineering (60 seats) — all AICTE approved and AKTU affiliated.

The total B.Tech fee at SIET is approximately INR 2.2 Lakhs for the complete 4-year programme (approximately INR 55,000 per year). Admission is through JEE Main score via UPTAC counselling.

The highest package in 2024-25 was INR 10 LPA (offered by Mobiloitte to multiple CSE students).
