For undergraduate programmes (B.Tech, BMS, B.Sc Research, BA Research, B.Des), SNU follows a five-step rolling admission process through its official portal, ugapplications.snu.edu.in. Applicants first submit an online application along with an application fee of Rs. 60,000, which is adjusted against the first semester's tuition if the candidate joins, but is non-refundable if they do not enrol. Next, candidates submit either a JEE Main 2025/2026 score, a SAT/ACT score, or appear for SNU's own proctored online test, SNUSAT+APT (design applicants can alternatively use UCEED, NID, NIFT or NATA scores). Shortlisted candidates are then called for a Personal Interview, which also factors into scholarship consideration, after which an offer letter is issued along with a merit scholarship allocation of 25%, 50% or 75% of tuition. The seat is confirmed once the candidate pays a Rs. 30,000 refundable security deposit. Because admissions run on a rolling basis, applying earlier generally improves scholarship chances; the university notes a Round 2 deadline of May 31, 2026 for the upcoming session.

Admission Process at Shiv Nadar University

For the MBA (including MBA Analytics and MBA Global Management), candidates need a graduation degree with at least 50% marks and a valid CAT, XAT, NMAT, GMAT, GRE or GATE score (SNU's own SMAT test is also accepted); shortlisted applicants go through a Written Ability Test and Personal Interview on campus or online, and the admissions window for this route runs roughly from October to March. For MS (Research) and M.Tech admissions, applicants need a B.Tech/B.E./B.Sc in a relevant discipline with a minimum of 60% marks, and either a GATE score or SNUSAT can be used, followed by a department-level interview; GATE-qualified full-time students receive a teaching-assistantship stipend of Rs. 16,000 per month, and this admissions cycle typically runs from January through June.

Ph.D. admissions require a master's degree with at least 55% marks, an SNU-specific written entrance test made up of department-specific objective questions, and a follow-up interview for shortlisted candidates; admissions are conducted twice a year, in the Monsoon and Winter intake cycles. Full-time Ph.D. scholars receive a stipend of Rs. 45,000 per month along with a full tuition waiver, while part-time scholars, who typically already hold industry positions, receive no stipend but pay a higher annual fee. JRF-qualified candidates and existing fellowship holders may be exempted from the written entrance test altogether, moving directly to the interview stage. Across every route - UG, MBA, M.Tech/MS and Ph.D. - SNU's admissions process consistently pairs a national or institute-level entrance score with a subsequent interview, interview panel or written test, rather than relying purely on a cut-off rank, which is why the university does not publish a single unified merit list in the way state counselling bodies do.
