About Shree O.H. Nazar Ayurved College

Shree O.H. Nazar Ayurved College, Surat, established in 1946 by the late Saint Shree Swami Atmanand Saraswati, is governed by the Shree Tapi Brahmacharyashram Sabha Trust, Surat (founded 7th May 1924). It is the only teaching institute imparting Ayurvedic education and providing Ayurvedic medical treatment to the needy people of the South Gujarat region since 1946. The college's first Principal was Shree Bapalal Vaidya, a well-known practitioner of Ayurvedic medicine. The attached Shree Swami Atmanand Saraswati Ayurved Hospital was established in 1948 with the aim of providing affordable and effective treatment to socio-economically backward people in underdeveloped areas. The college and hospital, located on the same campus near the Railway Station on Lal Darwaja Road, Surat, operated under Grant-in-Aid status of the Government of Gujarat until 20th January 2022, after which they were converted to Self-Finance status and are now run as a Private College by the same trust. The college offers only the undergraduate BAMS programme and is affiliated to Gujarat Ayurved University, Jamnagar, and recognized by the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM). The attached, NABH-accredited Shree Swami Atmanand Saraswati Ayurved Hospital serves patients from Surat city and surrounding villages of South Gujarat with well-equipped departments of Panchakarma, Shalya (Ayurvedic Surgery), Physiotherapy, Radiology, Sonography, Dental, E.N.T. and Ophthalmology, Gynecology and Obstetrics, and Pediatrics, along with a dedicated Diabetes Specialty Clinic. The hospital also conducts regular yoga classes led by a yoga guru, runs a full-fledged gym, and provides food facilities for patients and one attendant. The college campus features spacious classrooms with projectors, practical laboratories, a dissection room, a herbal garden, and sports facilities.
